Programs

Programs to meet the needs of students with identified disabilities are available at all grade levels in the Auburn Schools.  We make every attempt to provide services in the least restrictive educational setting.  This includes providing support personnel within the general education classroom so that students have access to the general curriculum.  Those students who require specialized instruction in a content area will receive that instruction from special education staff, usually within the resource room.  Reading and writing are most frequently the areas that require this level of support.

System level programs are available for students who need specialized instruction for the majority of their school day.  This includes students with severe cognitive delays(including autism), students with serious language disabilities, and students with severe emotional disabilities.  Students are refered to system programs when the support available within their home school does not result in educational gains.
