Now that this unprecedented school year has ended, we know that families are looking forward and wondering what fall will bring.  We want you to know that we too are looking forward and working very hard to provide the clarity and answers you are waiting for.

The Health & Safety Re-entry Committee, which includes representatives from various stakeholder groups, was created in mid-May for the purpose of planning and coordinating the COVID-19 work in the School Department.  Using guidance from CDC and the State of Maine, as well as models used in schools across the state, nation and globally, this committee has made decisions and implemented new procedures and protocols for our staff workshop days, summer childcare, and summer rec programs held in our schools.  All of these new procedures and protocols are a first step in preparing for the return of students to school.

Last week, the Department of Education released a framework for returning to school.  The Committee is now looking to that framework to provide guidance about fall.  We know that questions about school in the fall are weighing heavily on families and staff.  We assure you it weighs heavily on us as well and we are working to make decisions as soon as we can.  Watch for an update on our planning progress in mid-July.

We are seeking feedback from families so please take a few minutes to complete our family survey.  https://forms.gle/UthYHiiSSEw852e56 Your feedback is important to us, and hearing from you is critical to informing our decisions and plans.

Thank you.
