It is an exciting time for Auburn as we begin to plan for a new high school!  For information about becoming a member of the High School Building Committee, please read below:

High School Building Committee Charge

October 19, 2016

The Auburn School Committee authorizes the creation of a Building Committee for guiding representatives of the Architect firm selected and the School Committee in planning for the construction of a new high school building. The scope of the Building Committee’s responsibilities will be to recommend to the School Committee design, materials and other such elements and features necessary to construct a building to meet the current and future needs of students. It is an expectation that the Building Committee will use the District’s Vision 2020, current high school facilities research, and local educational program needs to guide their deliberations.

The Building Committee’s membership shall include two representatives of the School Committee, two representatives of the City Council, High School Principal, one high school staff member, student representative, four parents and/or citizens representing a cross-section of the community. The Superintendent of Schools, School Business Manager, and City Manager shall be ex officio members of the committee.

Building Committee members shall meet on a regular basis as required. An agenda for each meeting will be developed and a person will be designated to keep minutes of each meeting. All Building Committee agendas and minutes shall be made available to the public on the Auburn School Department website and in the Superintendent of School’s Office.

Applicants who wish to serve on the Building Committee shall submit a written statement expressing their interest, which should include contact information, highlighting interest for serving and any unique qualifications they will bring to the committee. All letters of interest shall be delivered to the Superintendent of Schools Office or sent via email to Roz Walton, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, rwalton@auburnschl.edu, on or before November 4, 2016. Committee members will be notified of their selection by November 9, 2016. The first Building Committee meeting is scheduled for November 29, 2016, 6-8pm in City Council Chambers.
