The mission of the Auburn School Department’s Before/After School Child Care Program is to meet the broad social/emotional, academic and physical needs of students in a before and after school setting in a safe and collaborative way. This occurs through positive adult-child interactions, a balance between academic time and creative play, opportunities for student-led activities, community service, and continued communication with the families and the schools in which we serve.

Childcare Philosophy

A child is entitled to a safe, respectful, trusting and caring environment.  The staff of the Auburn School Department's Childcare Program will provide an environment that allows for group and individual activity with time for self-directed learning.  This will encourage children to become lifelong learners by using their leisure time in enjoyable and productive ways.  These activities will reflect an awareness of the child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs.
